Pete Conrad and Alan Bean’s primary mission was to land close enough to the Surveyor spacecraft and retrieve parts for study back on Earth. Only the second landing, they put down within sight of their target. They secretly planned on taking a photo of the two of them together but when the time came they couldn’t find the remote timer for the camera. This is what that photo would have looked like. The parts and the mission are “In the bag”.
